- Developing knowledge and experience as a subject matter expert in their area(s) of responsibility, including in areas of responsibility, will be the Clearable Waste Program.
- Being a Technical lead on structures, systems and components, including upgrades and modifications, as well as knowledge of operational and maintenance control documents.
- Improving on existing processes and supporting new initiatives while providing oversight to field execution.
- Assisting in developing and reviewing various reports while ensuring the proper completion of Work Control documentation, clearances, and criticality safety documents to support operational initiatives.
- Ensuring rigorous oversight and high safety standards for field work execution.
- Acting as a single point of contact between operations and construction projects, understanding the Soil Management Plan for the CNL site.
- Acting as a valuable team member to the WMO team through detailed work planning and frequent field oversight.
- Working with external contractors on various projects within Waste Services.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- At a minimum, a Bachelor (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
- Experience
- A few years of related engineering working experience.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform field activities in all environmental conditions.
- Strong communications skills to persuade, influence and educate audiences, including operations staff of multiple backgrounds, clients, supply chain vendors, peers/colleagues and management).
- Action oriented with a demonstrated ability to be innovative while adhering to safety, regulatory requirements and client demands.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location:This role is a fully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee.
