We’re looking for an Operational Team Leader – Electrical Technical Services to join the team.What you’ll be doingYou’ll lead our Electrical Technical Services team, managing a group of Technical Support Advisors to keep Scottish Water’s assets and field teams running smoothly across Scotland.You’ll bridge the gap between technical standards and Capital projects, making sure best practices are followed every time. And you’ll set up simple, effective ways for teams to share ideas and feedback so we’re always refining how we work to deliver even better results.When something goes wrong, you’ll get to the root of the problem and make sure it doesn’t happen again. You’ll carry out deep dives after incidents and investigate alternative resolutions for repeat failures, this will strengthen our asset resilience and reduce downtime.You’ll set the electrical standards for E&M and Property Services and team up with the MEICA Academy to make those standards stick and turn them into the bedrock of how we operate.And that’s not all. You’ll lead our electrical strategy for maintaining legacy equipment, all while driving innovation and embracing new technology. Whether it’s preserving what works or pushing for what’s next, you’ll keep us ahead of the game.Health and Safety is at the core of everything we do. You’ll support technical investigations and work to create a strong, proactive safety culture that protects everyone across Scottish Water and our supply chain.What you’ll needYou’ll have solid theoretical and practical technical experience in electrical systems and maintenance, backed up with a HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.You’re a problem solver through and through. Complex challenges? You’ll tackle them with creative thinking and clever solutions. And when it comes to the tricky stuff, you’ve got a way of explaining it that just makes sense.You’re a natural communicator and skilled influencer. Whether it’s chatting with frontline teams or collaborating with stakeholders, you know how to get people on board. You’re also comfortable supporting others, sharing your expertise to help them develop their skills.With so much of this role being digital-first, you’re right at home using IT tools like Office 365 to keep everything ticking along smoothly. And since you’ll be traveling throughout Scotland, a full driving licence is a must.Looking out for youWhile the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. If you’re new to Scottish Water, you’ll join us on a starting salary of £41,000. Performance-driven pay progression would then allow you to move through the range to a maximum of £51,970.There’s no set standby for this role, but you’ll need to be flexible and ready to step in if an incident crops up out of hours.We operate a hybrid working model, so you can expect to spend some days working from home, some days working from the office and some days out on site visits. You’ll need to live within commuting distance of one of our office hubs, e.g., Edinburgh, Stepps, Dundee, Inverness, Perth.Job offers at Scottish Water are conditional, and will be confirmed on completion of our pre-employment screening, e.g. referencing, criminal record checks, license checks, etc. These checks are conducted on our behalf by a third party.
