Position SummaryMagellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Paint Sprayer L1.
- Full Time Permanent Contract
- 37 hours per week; 24/7 Shifts including days and nights
- Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
- Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
To apply solvent and water based primer and top coat paints, lubricants and varnishes to the required standard that meets both our internal procedures and customer specification. Application will be completed on complex components with no limitations. Formal inspection of the components will be required in line with our internal procedures.Perks and Benefits

Essential ResponsibilitiesSafety
- Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
- Ensure a safe working environment & practices are maintained and compliance to site HSE standards
- Follow risk assessments, COSHH assessments, manual handling assessments and CAR reports
- Responsible for participating in accident investigations and approving appropriate actions.
- Perform visual inspection of work area to obtain a 6S score daily and ensure the work area is maintained to 6S standards
- To keep work station clean and tidy
- To complete pre-use checks of all equipment to ensure that, it is safe and fit to use. , including daily RPE checks to ensure that all breathing equipment in fit for purpose
- To check that all airlines are in good condition and not showing signs of fatigue.
Quality
- To ensure all equipment is calibrated and identified accordingly
- Mixing of all paints, lubricant and varnishes to customer specifications and internal procedures (SOP)
- Inspecting their own and other operators quality of work, verifying paint film thickness and conducting a tape test following the quality management system and SOP
- Completing all relevant documentation in line with the SOP/ work instruction requirements. This includes but not limited to job card, paint mix log and paint stores log
- To complete process confirmation checks on a daily basis.
- Participate in problem solving activities such as 8D & 5Y and help to establish and implement better working practices
- Participate in both internal and external audits of the painting process
- Verify parts are correct to the job card and processed following customer specifications
- Responsible for identifying any failures with parts, completion of NCR forms and escalating to the Line Manager for rectification work
- Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard.
Cost
- To complete the relevant PPM’s and scheduled maintenance tasks such as changing paint filters
Delivery
- The operator will be responsible for scheduling, delivering and recording data
- Loading and unloading of the paint booths in a safe and controlled manner.
- Application of all solvent and water based primer and top coat paints, lubricants and varnishes to complex parts to customer specifications and internal procedures (SOP)
- Replenishing of paints, lubricants and varnishes within the paint kitchen.
- The job has responsibility for cross checking that all of the prior operations have been completed prior to commencing this operation

Position RequirementsAcademic:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English.
- Good verbal and written communication (passed numeracy & literacy exam)
- Excellent vision requirements (passed vision exam)
Experience:
- SAP or MRP experience desirable
- Crane licence desirable
