We show how different disciplines can positively disrupt one another, revealing new ways of seeing, thinking and making. Art, industry, humanities and design converge to tackle real world issues and speculate and propose new futures.The future of practice is central to the need to develop an ethical construction industry. As the industry shifts away from large carbon emissions, poor quality construction, excessive construction waste and unsafe working practices, LSA is leading in tackling the Climate Emergency and restoring Social Justice for all.RoleThe Built Environment programmes are seeking to appoint enthusiastic part-time hourly-paid lecturers to teach within the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Construction programme, to inspire the next generation of Quantity Surveyors. The main responsibilities will include delivery of lectures, tutorials and workshops, assessment, student attendance monitoring and related administration. All activities will be delivered on the Leicester DMU campus. Actual hours and days will be described in a timetable which will be planned in advance of the teaching block.Ideal CandidateTeaching experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential. You will have proven industry experience – with extensive knowledge of the core quantity surveying role including one or more of the following areas:
- Measurement of building works
- Cost estimating and tendering
- Procurement
- Professional quantity surveying practices
- Contract and law (contract administration)*
*Additionally, we would be interested to hear from applicants who have knowledge of Architectural Technology contract and law specifics.You must have a working understanding of RICS accreditation, or be a chartered member of RICS.Teaching will commence from 30th September 2024 and continue until June 2025. Appointed hourly-paid staff will be required for some or all of this period.The current rate of pay is £49.48 per hour, which will increase by an increment in the academic year 2024-25.
