JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State New Kensington is seeking a Part Time Instructional Designer – Faculty Technology Integrator.

This position will be a pivotal liaison between faculty members and cutting-edge technology, ensuring seamless integration of innovative tools and practices across disciplines. This position holds the responsibility of staying abreast of technological advancements that will impact college graduates and collaborating with Academy faculty to develop strategies for student preparation.

 

This position will require maintaining knowledge of technology trends across multiple technologies such as digital twinning, robotics, AI, data analytics, AR/VR, software, cloud computing, sensors and edge computing, and digital automation.  The ability to anticipate trends in these technologies and how they merge to impact lives and work is critical, as is the ability to articulate what that means for faculty across different disciplines.

 

This position will be working alongside a co-director and report directly to the Chancellor.  While the direction and expectations will be set, this position will require significant personal accountability for not only completing tasks but for anticipating what is needed next to ensure that the Academy is a success.

 

The Faculty Technology Integrator will be responsible for:

 

  • Staying abreast of emerging technologies and assessing their implications on student preparation for productive lives as citizens, employees, and leaders across diverse academic disciplines.
  • Collaborating with faculty across disciplines to identify opportunities for integrating relevant technologies into programs and courses.
  • Working closely with the Director to plan and execute a regional annual conference and a series of workshops addressing technology awareness, training, and adoption for faculty across the 29 universities and colleges in Southwestern PA.
  • Providing guidance and support to faculty in adopting new technologies to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Publishing a Future Technology newsletter to keep faculty informed about the latest advancements and their potential impact on education.
  • Collaborate with participating faculty to contribute content to the Faculty Academy publications.
  • Identifying key performance indicators for the Academy related to technology integration and assessing the effectiveness of implemented strategies.
  • Managing the assessment process, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with academic goals.
  • Conducting outreach to faculty to stimulate interest and participation in the Faculty Academy.
  • Publishing the quarterly report due back to funders.

 

Type: Part-Time

Working Schedule: 20-24 hours per week

Schedule: Flexible 

This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US 
driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required 
in addition to standard background checks.
