Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Patient Accounts Specialist I. The Patient Accounts Specialist I is responsible for billing and following up on both professional and technical components for third-party and self-pay claims (s) until final resolution and the claim is zero-balanced, supporting the mission, vision, and values of the Patient Business Services Department.What you’ll do day-to-day:
- Account Management: Review and process paper and electronic claims promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Document transactions and coordinate account transfers within set timelines.
- Billing Compliance: Collect and update billing information, communicate professionally with payors, and attend training sessions to ensure compliance with payor-specific billing requirements.
- Departmental Contribution: Follow up on claims until resolution, maintain outstanding days within industry standards, and effectively communicate with patients. Research credit balance accounts and initiate necessary actions.
We seek a candidate with 1–5 years of experience in Hospital Access, Medical Office Secretary, or Billing, focusing on insurance processing. Familiarity with CMS1500 and UB04 claim forms, strong communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are required. Basic math skills and the ability to make logical decisions with attention to detail are essential.Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is in St. Johnsbury in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
