Job DescriptionAbout This RoleThe Associate Director, Patient Advocacy for Nephrology will drive the development and implementation of the patient advocacy strategy in support of Biogen’s kidney and immune- mediated disease asset(s) under the Immunology Portfolio.Working closely with Corporate Affairs as well as the US organization, this individual will be responsible for leading proactive external engagement with key patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and umbrella kidney and immune-mediated diseases (IMD) groups. The candidate will deepen relationships with priority external stakeholders and drive Biogen’s position in this space.The Associate Director, Patient Advocacy will be an integral member of the Global and U.S. cross functional teams providing strategic counsel and executing on patient advocacy engagement plans. They will continue to build and position Biogen as a partner of choice with the community through active engagement at community events, medical congresses, patient conferences, etc.As a member of the Core Global Patient Advocacy, Corporate Responsibility and Community Engagement team, this role will work cross-functionally with colleagues in global, international and in the Biogen affiliates. This role will report to the Executive Director, Global Head of Patient Advocacy and Corporate Responsibility.What You’ll Do

  • Drive patient advocacy strategy for the Nephrology community
  • Build, deepen and own relationships with key external partners
  • Implement successful patient advocacy tactics to support overarching goals
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to support business challenges
  • Serve on the Immunology Portfolio Leadership team
  • Work closely and effectively with compliance, legal and regulatory colleagues

  • 7+ years of advocacy, community or clinical trial engagement experience within the biotech industry, healthcare, for a trade association, government or NGO
  • Knowledgeable of Nephology advocacy space with experience engaging with key patient advocacy groups representing Kidney and immune-mediated diseases (IMD)
  • In-depth understanding and experience of patient advocacy
  • Knowledge of U.S. patient access environment, policy, and healthcare systems
  • Ability to develop strong relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in strategy and execution; flexibility to find the right balance in working strategically and operationally
  • Enjoys a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a matrix team and with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders on complex issues
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
