Job introductionAbout the roleAre you interested in an excellent opportunity to join an award winning Pensions Team as a Pensions Support Officer?The post holder will work on a range of projects including Freedom of Information requests; website management; communications; employer engagement with the 140 scheme employers giving direction on regulatory and operational requirements; research on new initiatives or guidance from regulators, government bodies or expert advisers; and strategy and policy review and creation. The post holder will be supporting the management team and elected members in administering the Local Government Pension Scheme for East Sussex eligible employers and the circa 82,000 beneficiaries.Supporting the Pensions Manager for Governance and Compliance and/or the Pensions Manger for Employer Engagement, the post holder will be required to ensure the Fund’s compliance with the Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), the Pensions Regulator Code of Practice and associated statutory guidance and best practice. Working closely with the Funds 140 eligible employers, external stakeholders and the wider pensions team the post holder will use their relationship management skills to ensure the Fund is acting to achieve a high standard of service to its various stakeholders and ensure the Fund is following best practice and viewed as an industry leader.The post holder will enjoy a diverse workload that will vary depending on the needs of the wider Fund.The criteria for the post holder is listed below:Essential education and qualification/s:
- NVQ Level 5 in Business Administration, a related subject or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience
Desirable education and qualification/s:
- Working towards (PMI) QPA Desirable education and qualification/s – Qualification Pension Administration or (IPP) Diploma in Pensions Management
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of LGPS regulations
- Experience of working in a pension or financial environment.
