This enables us to create professionals in and out of a sporting context. The performance programme supports International and National level athletes to achieve success whist at UEL.

We are looking to recruit a full-time physiotherapist to join our medical team and provide leading support to the East London High Performance Programme and East London Talent Pathway Athletes.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities focused on leading physiotherapy support, treatment, and rehabilitation for the high-performance programme (HPP) and East London Talent Pathway Athletes at UEL. Where required they will also provide courtside cover for BUCS fixtures and tournaments. Hours and times can be discussed on an individual basis.

You will work with and treat professional, aspiring professional, TASS, and university athletes. This opportunity provides an enthusiastic clinician with a broad breadth of experiences. They will be supported by a clinical team including a head of medical services, osteopath, sports and soft tissue therapists and strength and conditioning coaches.

The role will be based at the University of East London Docklands Campus (Beckton).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To appropriately manage the treatment and rehabilitation of injured HPP players
  • Work closely with coaches and other support staff to ensure the maintenance and / or return to fitness of injured players.
  • Complete regular player screening and profiling to issue specific injury prevention education and prehab plans to players.
  • To complete all administrative tasks necessary for TASS reporting
  • Support the provision of appropriate medical cover for HPP fixtures, this will include some Wednesday evenings and weekends.
  • Within the rules of professional confidentiality liaise with athletes, parents, coaches, and other support staff.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive medical notes for each player as required.
  • Promotion of anti-doping practices in line with university expectation and guidelines
  • Attend and support the delivery of weekly team meetings with HPP programmes to provide player medical updates.
  • Work with the HPP programme to provide comprehensive physiotherapy support and guidance to all its supported athletes.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy with a minimum of 12months post-graduation experience
  • Member of the CSP and registered physiotherapist with the HCPC
  • Have completed MSK and Orthopaedic student rotations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Valid first aid certificate

Desirable

  • To hold a pitch side injury qualification such as PHICIS2, ITMMiF or LUBAS Sports Trauma Management qualification.
  • MSK and Neuro experience within the NHS setting
  • Experience working in professional/ elite sport.
