Job description
The Plumber/Steamfitter Apprentice is responsible for completing training in and providing assistance with construction, repair, installation and maintenance work on all piping systems and associated mechanical equipment including testing, commissioning, decommissioning.
What you will be doing:
· To receive training in and provide assistance with, construction, repair, installation and maintenance work on all piping systems and associated mechanical equipment including testing, commissioning, decommissioning.
· The Plumber/Steamfitter Apprentice is responsible for the completion of task assignments including work planning, working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, working within QA and regulatory requirements and the provision of high customer service.
· The incumbent must interact and work with zone supervisors, fellow employees and customers.
· The successful candidate will be responsible for, and practice, all applicable safety and health regulations, the protection of self, others and equipment/facilities.
· Responsible for good housekeeping by maintaining a safe and hazard free work place.
· Provision of customer service/assistance. Interpretation of customer requirements and production of finished product to customer specification.
· Reading and interpretation of work-related instructions and materials. Use of clear, verbal and written instructions. Use of accepted terminology.
· The successful applicant will be enrolled in a formal Apprenticeship Program with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development and is expected to attend school as required.
What we are looking for:
Education:
· Secondary School Diploma. Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experiences would be considered an asset.
Experience:
· Previous knowledge/experience of rigging, splicing machining overhaul and maintenance.
Abilities and Skills:
· Must have the ability to read blue prints and rough sketches.
· Must have the ability to measure and estimate quantity, quality and size of requirement materials.
· Must have the ability to schedule own work, make job related decisions and work with a minimum of supervision.
· Must have the ability to measure and estimate quantity and quality of size of required materials.
· Must have preventative and predictive maintenance skills.
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security”.
