Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Policy Analyst, Government Affairs & Policy, located in Washington D.C.

The Policy Analyst will support the development and execution of the J&J Worldwide Government Affairs & Policy Strategy and Operating Model with a specific focus on supporting the WWGA&P executive leadership role for the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC) Chairmanship. The candidate will work closely with the HLC, internal GA&P, and enterprise and business colleagues to drive a successful HLC Chairmanship that is supportive of J&J goals. The ideal candidate will combine critical thinking with proactive, creative, and bold idea generation relevant to the function and positioning of J&J as well as have advanced organizational and writing skills.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of our J&J strategy within the J&J leadership role of the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC) and our position as Chair-Elect/Chair of the HLC Executive Committee.
  • Lead the preparation, including material development, for the HLC meetings, including but not limited to the Executive Committee and Membership meetings and associated committees as needed.
  • Lead internal and external outreach needed to optimize meeting success, including meeting preparation.
  • Support a successful executive chairmanship by supporting policy development and thought leadership that leads to authoring op-eds, blogs, in support of HLC positions, supporting participation in editorial boards, Hill and Administrative meetings in support of HLC issues.
  • Support driving an aligned HLC and J&J policy agenda that advances the innovation narrative, healthcare workforce, market driven solutions in the life sciences, supply chain, emerging technology and health equity.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in political science, public health international relations, etc.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 3-4 years’ experience in public affairs and or public policy (corporate, consultancy, NGO, trade association, US government entities), bringing a strong institutional network.
  • Deep understanding of the US institutions and US legislative processes; including the role of trade organizations and advocacy and consultant partners.
  • Good understanding of healthcare environment.
  • A mature, adaptive, and flexible disposition to interact credibly and effectively with a range of diverse internal and external collaborators and demonstrate strong emotional intelligence.
  • Be highly articulate, with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience of successfully operating in a highly matrixed environment and able to deal with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Results-orientated capacity to articulate the value/impact of any activity/project.
  • Skills like critical thinking, Intellectual curiosity, sense of accountability, collaboration and teaming, self-awareness, flexibility, and strong organizational skills.
  • Have skilled experience in project management.
  • Have interest & savviness in digital and online new media.
  • Willingness to learn, ethical behavior and cross-cultural awareness in line with J&J Credo values.

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in English, additional European languages are an asset.
