Policy and Public Affairs Interns

Job description:

AmCham EU is seeking to recruit two Policy and Public Affairs interns for the period of September 2026 until the end of February 2027.

The successful candidates will support AmCham EU’s Policy and Public Affairs team by contributing to its policy, advocacy, external communications and stakeholder engagement activities. The roles involve conducting research, monitoring EU policy developments, drafting communications materials, preparing briefings and supporting meetings and events with policymakers, member companies and other stakeholders. The positions offer a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience of EU advocacy across a broad range of European and transatlantic policy issues.

Main tasks:

  • Support all stages of advocacy activities, from policy research and development to communications and stakeholder engagement;
  • Monitor and research EU policy developments relevant to AmCham EU member companies;
  • Prepare briefing notes, background papers and other policy and communications materials;
  • Draft a wide range of written materials, including correspondence and meeting reports;
  • Assist with the preparation, coordination and follow-up of meetings with policymakers, business representatives and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of internal databases;
  • Support the organisation of conferences, events and committee meetings.

Qualifications/skills/experience required:

  • Recent graduate with a Master’s degree in European studies, political science, international relations, law, economics or a related field;
  • Strong interest in European affairs and public policy;
  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with a proactive mindset, high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously;
  • Excellent written communications skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues;
  • Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office;
  • Familiarity with AI tools and an understanding of their responsible use in a professional environment are an asset.

Languages: Fluent English (both written and spoken); other EU languages can be an asset.
Contract: Belgian CIP contract (convention d’immersion professionnelle).
Stipend: EU 1700/month.
