Job Summary The Post-Baccalaureate Curatorial Assistant reports to the Bowdoin College Museum of Art Curator supporting the curatorial team with programs, schedules, research, and various administrative tasks. These responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the recruitment, hiring and training of student employees and is primary contact with student organizations associated with the museum
  • Coordinating recruitment and training of tour guides, and schedules group tours of the museum
  • Working with museum staff on the development of digital resources.
  • Conducting original research on an area of their interest related to the Museum collection. This position reports to the Curator.

This is an entry-level, two-year post-baccalaureate appointment open to Bowdoin College graduates from the classes of 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Education/Skills Requirements Required:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College as well as a demonstrated interest in the arts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • The ability to multi-task in deadline driven environment
  • A sincere commitment to working in a museum environment.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents Preferred:

  • Previous experience in an art museum or gallery setting.
Standard Work Days and Hours
  • Generally, Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 5:00.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
  • This is a full-time, year round position working 40 hours/52 weeks (1.00 FTE).
  • Two-year post-baccalaureate appointment .
