About the RoleApplications are invited for a motivated and committed Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) with rich experience/knowledge. The position is funded by a research project grant from the British Heart Foundation (BHF) within Professor Xiao’s group. The successful candidate will undertake research investigations in collaboration with and under the supervision of the line manager in order to realise the objectives and development of the research projects/programme.About YouThe successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD degree (or close to completion) in molecular/cell biology, or a related biological sciences discipline, with good experience in molecular cell biology and vascular biology. Excellent skills and rich experience in animal handling and various animal models of cardiovascular diseases (such as vessel injury-induced neointimal formation, arterial ligation, vascular grafting, cell injection/transplantation, or bone marrow transplantation model, etc.) are essential. Good experiences in stem cell biology including induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell generation and differentiation, somatic cell direct conversion/trans-differentiation into vascular cells, isolation/characterization of different type of adult stem/progenitor cells from various tissues/organs, RNA sequencing, and/or bioinformatics, are also desirable.About the School/Department/Institute/ProjectWithin the Centre for Clinical Pharmacology and Precision Medicine (CPPM) various projects of Professor Xiao’s group will aim to investigate the pathogenesis and underlying signal pathways of cardiovascular diseases including atherosclerosis, vascular calcification, injury-induced arterial remodelling, transplant arteriosclerosis, aortic aneurysm and dissection, cardiac injury, and heart failure; to elucidate molecular mechanisms of stem cell differentiation and somatic cell direct reprogramming; and to study the therapeutic potential of stem/progenitor cell-derived vascular cells in cardiovascular diseases, etc.About Queen MaryAt Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence.
