We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our busy practice to work alongside our current nursing team. The practice manages a high level of Chronic Disease patients as well as being in one of the most deprived areas of sheffield. We are a 4 partner GP practice with an impressive multi-skilled and long standing workforce. In 2018, we successfully achieved one of our visions by becoming a training practice to help newly qualified Doctors understand the atmosphere and fulfilment of working within a community setting.Main duties of the jobWe require an enthusiastic and suitably qualified nurse (training will be consider for the right applicant) who would be expected to undertake the following duties:Experience in Chronic Disease Management, Contraception, Childhood Immunisations and Hypertension Management. The following experience is also needed:Wound/ulcer careRemoval of SuturesTravel ClinicAsthma Peak Flow Readings/SpirometryVenepunctureAdvice patients on general health care with referral to GPs as necessary.Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittingsRequesting pathology testsThe successful applicant must be:Self-motivated, flexible and adaptable team playerExperienced in primary care or first contact nursingVision and commitment to deliver excellent services to our patientsAbout usWe are a very forward thinking, hardworking practice and are always open to new ideas that can benefit our patients.   • Advice patients on general health care with referral to GPs as necessary
  • Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
  • Cytology (training offered)
  • Wound care / ulcer care
  • Removal of Sutures
  • Travel Clinic
  • Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
  • Venepuncture
  • Hypertension Management
  • Ear syringing (desirable)
  • Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
  • Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
  • Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
  • Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
  • Experience in chronic disease management and contraception.
  • Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate

Other tasks will include

  • Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
  • Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
  • Ordering of stock and vaccines as required and maintaining stock levels
  • will be a need to maintain accurate records
  • A duty to advise nurse colleagues of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
  • Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
  • On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post
