As we continue to grow, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in learning and develop coping strategies.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges.
- Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours, promoting positive social interactions and self-regulation skills.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff members to develop and implement individualised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
- Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate their academic and personal growth.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the review and evaluation of support strategies.
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, intervening in crisis situations and de-escalating challenging behaviours as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting(desirable)
- A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental health development of young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a calm and compassionate approach to supporting students in crisis situations.
