RSK International Projects Group (IPG) Marine Team part of RSK Group has more than 25 years’ experience in delivering marine environmental services including environmental and social impact assessment (ESIA), RSK’s marine specialists offer a complete global consenting service for marine and coastal projects.Our innovative marine team has substantial experience in marine and coastal environmental research and consultancy working in diverse marine and coastal environments from intertidal zones to open ocean. These diverse environments include the North and South Atlantic oceans, the Arabian Gulf, the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean, Caspian, Caribbean, North and Irish seas.We are now have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Marine Consultant – International Marine ESIA/Consents to join the Marine Team at either our Marine hubs in the UK Offices or be based from our wider international locations, including, Asia, Australia, France, Spain and Ireland, encompassing Hybrid working.Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the technical aspects of complex ESIAs and other marine environmental studies with multiple contributors. This is likely to involve leading the co-ordination and production of screening reports, feasibility studies, scoping reports, environmental, social and health impact assessments (ESHIA’s) and environmental and social management plans and other relevant environmental assessments globally
- survey design and supervision for coastal and offshore field data collection in the UK and abroad
- leading the production of proposals and tenders with the support of other members of the team
- managing major projects with support from other members of the team with due regards to project administration and reporting (e.g. using MS Word and Excel etc.)
- contribute to the effective running of the Marine Team, through membership of the Marine Team Leaders group, line management, supervision and peer review
- a willingness to support the development of more junior grades within the team and help peer review their deliverables
- providing business development support to the Marine Team Leader, Technical Director and Associate Directors, and in-country/ business sector leads. This is likely to include preparation of marketing materials, meetings with existing and potential new clients, participation in relevant industry events, etc.
- contribution to the wider IPG team objectives and fortnightly calls, as relevant.
Person Specification:
- A first-class honours degree or 2:1 in a relevant marine environmental subject
- a postgraduate qualification covering aspects of marine resource development and protection and / or marine related International and UK environmental and social impact / Offshore Renewable Energy assessment would be an advantage
- at least 10 years relevant experience in International / UK marine environmental consultancy service provision, Candidates with Marine Ornithology/ HRA/ International EIA/ Oil Spill response especially be of interest, the grade awarded will be commensurate with experience
- experience of working on renewable energy and oil and gas projects in the UK or abroad
- familiarity with international lender standards (including Equator Principles, WB, IFC PS6, EBRD PR6 and EIB Standard 3) is ideal but not essential
- a desire to learn and commitment to Continued Professional Development
- a willingness to travel, if required
- competence in the use of Microsoft Office (in particular Word and Excel)
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- strong team player, with good interpersonal skills, who is comfortable to work with and support other members of the team at all levels including within multi-cultural teams in different environments and countries
- positive and enthusiastic self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously and make decisions when necessary within pressing situations
- good business development outlook and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and external bodies
- good awareness of market conditions
- good project financial analysis and control capabilities, including working capital issues.
- previous experience of undertaking offshore or coastal field data collection and the subsequent interpretation of this data would be an advantage
- fluency in spoken and written English is essential, but additional language skills would be a strong advantage.
