Principal Piping Engineer – Teesside or Renfrew BasedAltrad are currently expanding due to a number of project successes within our Major projects business. To support this growth we are looking to recruit a Principal Piping Engineer with demonstrable experience in delivering on EPC projects while running a Piping and Layout Design team.The opportunity will be based in our Teesside or Renfrew offices with hybrid working arrangements for a duration of 12 months with potential to extend longer term, when required you will expected to travel to our client site facility in Hull.You will be at the forefront of piping system design, analysis, and optimization for a major Chemical Manufacturing project while working in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. • System Design & Analysis: Lead the engineering and design activities related to piping systems, ensuring that they meet industry standards and project requirements.
• Material Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate materials for piping systems, considering factors such as corrosion resistance, temperature constraints, and cost-effectiveness.
• Technical Documentation: Generate comprehensive piping specifications, valve/special piping item datasheets, and technical reports to facilitate procurement, fabrication, and installation.
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with departments such as mechanical, process, electrical, instrumentation, control systems, and civil-structural engineering to ensure a cohesive and efficient project execution.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Oversee the quality control processes, ensuring that all design and construction activities comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Mentoring & Development: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest advancements and best practices in the field of piping engineering.
• Project Delivery: Assess, monitor, and report Piping progress and resource.

So what do you need to be considered?Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience of piping delivery on EPC projects while running a Piping and Layout Design team.
• A minimum of 10 years of specialised experience in piping engineering.
• Profound understanding of piping engineering principles, standards, material science, and industry orthodoxy.
• Demonstrable experience in the design, analysis, and procurement of complex piping systems.
• Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments.
