We are a matrix engineering and technology organization so you will touch multiple programs over your career!What You Will Be DoingAs a Mechanical Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:– Supporting concept and design efforts of the Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Product Center– Work collaboratively with individuals from complementary disciplines within the Engineering, Manufacturing and Sub-Contracts organizations.
– Work with little direction and develop advanced technical principles, techniques and concepts.
– Being proficient in dynamic/structural analysis, finite element analysis, structural/vibration testing, and test correlation.– Support viscoelastic structural analyses for the development of grain designs that meet propellant
– Have knowledge of related application software such as ANSA, Nastran, Abaqus, NX, FEMAP, Patran, and HyperMesh.It is possible that travel will be required to both customer and supplier sites as well as to Orlando, the product Center’s home base. It is possible that travel will be both within and outside the Continental United States (CONUS).Telecommuting opportunities can vary depending on daily tasking. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Professional experience in static and dynamics analysis with a specific focus in non-linear, viscoelastic modeling/analysis of solid propellant grains.
Knowledge of and modeling experience with related application software such as ANSA, META, Nastran, Abaqus, NX, and/or HyperMesh. Specific focus on non-linear, viscoelastic modeling/tools.Desired skillsExperience providing propellant chemist and ballistician design support is desired.
Familiarity with development of material master curves via time-temperature superposition methods.
Familiarity with production MRB processes is a plus.
Professional, hands-on experience providing analysis support for product.
Working knowledge in one or more of the following:
-Static analysis
-Modal analysis
-Frequency response analysis
-Transient response analysis
-Shock response analysis
-Viscoelastic and hyperelastic material models
-Grain to insulation bond interface analysis methods
Working experience with solid rocket motor designs of the following types:
-Cartridge/booted grains
-Case-bonded center-perforated grains
-Nozzle thermal-structural-ablation design/analysis
-Throat thermal-structural-ablation design/analysis
-Seal analysis under high pressure and temperature influences
Ability to work with little direction and develop advanced technical principles, techniques and concepts.Experience in hardware and development.
