Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?You will contribute to the strategic Private Banking (PB) and CB Operation’s business priorities by supporting Private Bankers and Directors Credit Structures in the credit renewal process for Private Banking wholesale clients (CMI 805) within required deadlines. You will be accountable for reviewing and establishing the customer’s Borrower risk rating (BRR) and ensuring credit structures adequately mitigate the respective credit risks. You will underwrite and adjudicate renewal transaction requests and approve policy exceptions within Delegated Lending Authorities, using sound judgment and employing a balanced approach to asset growth and portfolio quality. You will identify opportunities to improve credit management processes and work flow, participate in special projects and leverage strategic relationships with functional units and cross-platform partners.Please Note: This position is a Nationwide opportunity, open to applicants who are able to commute to office locations in Montreal, Toronto, Mississauga and/or Vancouver.What will you do?
- Deliver an exceptional client experience and digital enablement and recommend ways to work towards Simpler, Faster, Better, while meeting and exceeding client turn around expectations.
- Exercise due diligence and good judgment in credit renewals underwriting & adjudication, incorporating Know Your Client (KYC), know the transaction, credit structure, risk analysis and client strategy.
- Leverage tools, resources and materials related to lending policy, practices and products to support advice and recommendations, ensuring a balance between shareholder risk and client experience.
- Maximize the use of technology, build corporate memory and enable continuity of client service and future opportunity spotting by documenting details of High Net worth & Very High Net worth (UHNW) client interactions in most appropriate system.
- Promote a mindset of teamwork, learning and creative thinking, while ensuring adherence to delegated lending authorities, corporate risk guidelines and policies to manage the risk of credit solutions.
- Support initiatives, lending programs and training that improve the team’s ability to meet clients’ borrowing needs and leverage their available assets.
- Establish credibility by developing professional relationships with Group Risk Management and presenting well-structured quality credit requests for approval.
- Raise concerns surrounding credits that present a negative trend or increased risk, recommend remediation and respond to GRM queries relating to issues that result from review.
- In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide.
What do you need to succeed?Must-have
- Strong Personal or Business credit/lending experience
- Good understanding of the end-to-end credit underwriting process and retail lending policies
- Strong analytical capabilities, financial acumen and attention to detail
- Ability to lead with a growth mindset, be creative in credit solution development and able to identify appropriate rationale to recommend structures outside of policy
- Professional oral and written communication skills
Nice-to-have
- Prior experience as a Small Business or Commercial account manager is a plus
- Good understanding of Private Banking wholesale products and credit policy
- Experience using MS Outlook, RBCnet, Synergy, Newton, word processing & spreadsheets
- University degree
