A team that uses raw materials and executes processes to manufacture Actinium ( Ac-225) within the safety envelope of Licensed Nuclear Facilities? - Directing actinium production work in facilities.
- Managing and maintaining process material inventory.
- Maintaining production records.
- Maintaining radium inventory records.
- Ensuring manufacturing quality control records are completed.
- Ensuring equipment readiness (maintenance, calibration).
- Planning and scheduling work, coordinating with facilities and subject matter expert (SME) staff.
- Preparing shipping documentation and arranging shipping.
- Performing, as required, Operations Engineer tasks when the operations engineer is absent.
- Ensuring Operating Procedures for work on Ac-225 are developed and revised as needed.
- Ensuring that the Ac-225 work complies with the Facility Authorization document.
- Ensuring any changes and modifications to the Ac-225 process work are practical from a production viewpoint.
- Ensuring Staff training plans and organizing training.
- Environmental reporting.
- Collaborating/communicating with facility management.
- Providing first and rapid response to breakdowns, delays and other situations that develop in facilities.
- Providing or supplying technical support for the operations unit assisting on the Ac225 project as required.
- Preparing Waste data forms.
- Production equipment and process-related ECCs.
- Providing coverage for operations engineers during absences.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Bachelors in engineering or science from a university of recognized standing or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization.
- Experience
- 8 or more years of relevant engineering experience in the nuclear field.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and to respond to challenging schedule demands.
- General knowledge of nuclear, mechanical, electrical systems, and chemistry.
- Knowledge of process, mechanical and electrical systems operations, and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, and coordination of resources.
- Basic knowledge of procurement and financial processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing process within a Nuclear Licensed Facility.
- Must have demonstrated excellent written and oral abilities.
- Must be self-motivated and driven.
- Must be comfortable in performing work with short timelines and high pressure.
- Must have broad training or educational qualifications specific to the job duties; be willing to obtain or attend further job-related training and accreditation.
- Must possess sound judgment and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrate ability to work as an effective team member and to respond to challenging schedule demands.
- Must possess a high sense of individual responsibility.
- Direct actinium production work in facilities.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Work in moderate radiation hazard environments where personal protective equipment is required.
- The environment demands high vigilance to alarms, lights, and signals as a safety requirement.

Location:
This role is a fully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee.
