About Our Opportunity
As a member of the Community Supports and Facilities team, the Program Administration Officer 3 (Program and Development Officer), you provide support working collaboratively to build the capacity of communities and diverse organizations across the province. Your responsibilities include leading the day-to-day administration of one of the department’s infrastructure grant programs.
As the Program and Development Officer you are responsible for supporting applicants throughout the grant application process and providing regular program status reports to your colleagues and senior staff. A key part and role of successful grant administration is collaborating with your department and government colleagues and having a sound knowledge of Nova Scotia’s diverse communities and organizations.
This position reports directly to the Access-Ability Program Administration Officer.
Qualifications and Experience
You bring with you a Bachelors’ degree with a concentration in planning or social sciences (e.g. building and community development) plus 5 years related experience. An equivalent combination of formal training and related experience may be considered.
In addition,
- fundamental understanding of community development, small-scale construction, and building maintenance
- understanding and managing budgets and interpreting quotes
A vital requirement is demonstrating and understanding the value of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. You’re able to apply these concepts to all areas of your work and supporting your colleagues to do the same by setting an example and keeping informed on training and education around a working in a more inclusive workforce.
You exercise tact, diplomacy and sound judgement when dealing with internal and external clients. You possess exceptional organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to work collaboratively on multiple deadlines simultaneously. You are a self-directed with the ability to work independently or in a team environment. You have experience using Microsoft programs, especially Excel, and internet search engines.
This role also requires you to have excellent project management experience, clearly defined in your resume. If you adapt to change with confidence, your proactive and broadminded way of thinking brings new methods of continuous improvement, from thinking outside the box, this position may be for you.
Assets for this role include,
- SAP and grants management systems experience
- Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility certification
- experience using Acrobat Adobe Pro

This is a TERM employment opportunity with anticipated end date of January 8, 2026. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 13
Salary Range: $2,543.38 – $3,091.70 Bi-Weekly
