  • Performs analysis, research, and other projects directly supporting the Branch and Division Chief.
  • Guides and assesses the Digitally-aided Close Air Support, and Digitally-aided Fire Support projects to influence requirements, procurement and resourcing investment decisions relative to the Joint Fires Division (JFD), mission areas of Joint Fires, Joint Close Air Support, Friendly Force Tracking, and Combat Identification.
  • Works closely with counterparts representing the Military Services, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Agencies, the Joint Staff, Coalition Partner Nations and Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
  • Provides support across the United States including exercises, coordination, meetings and operations to include extensive work with U.S. allies, NATO, and Allied Command Transformation.
  • Utilizes Tactical Data Link requirements, development and operation; and demonstrated leadership traits to orchestrate successful resolution of issues by teams composed of U.S. and Partner Nation warfighters, trainers, and technical experts.
  • Plans and organizes the study, estimates costs, coordinating with staff and line management and appropriate personnel, conducting all phases of the project, etc.

QualificationsYou may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Planning, operating and assessing Joint Tactical Data Link (TDL) operations to include at least Link 16, also Variable Messaging Format (VMF), and XML (Cursor-on-Target) standards;
  • Applying electromagnetic protective measures in a radio frequency (RF) environment;
  • Providing technical guidance and overseeing the interoperability analysis for the Joint fire support mission area, including doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures, and situational systems;
  • Managing data collection, analysis, and compliance assessment of program office systems to support interoperability certification process;
  • Communicating within a senior-level, Joint and multi-national environment to include military headquarters staffing process.
