Scope of Job Responsible for the day-to-day management, development and coordination of the Engaged Scholarship and Learning office and the office’s signature programs.  Responsible for all phases of program development and coordination of assigned program activities. 
Description of Duties • Plans and develops a vision for experiential learning initiatives throughout the institution in collaboration with the director.
• Provides administrative oversight of undergraduate research programs such as: Engaged Scholar & Artist Awards, Engaged Scholar Symposium, and Workshops.
• Plans and develops creative works, and service learning activities, including but not limited to, advising faculty, students, and community partners, organizing training for experiential learning faculty and students, fostering partnerships among faculty, students, and community partners, working with faculty to incorporate experiential learning effectively into their teaching and research, disseminating information about experiential learning opportunities.
• Actively promotes academic service-learning opportunities and resources to faculty and students, as well as in the community and with university leadership.
• Collaborates with community partners and the Division of Community Relations to promote relationships for academic community engagement.
• Participates with academic units across campus to collect data, interpret, and report on experiential learning activities.
• Convenes faculty consultants and advisory groups.
• Implements student development programs and resources for undergraduate students to become engaged with research, creative works, and service learning.
• Ensures the involvement and participation of all campuses, faculty, and students in experiential learning initiatives.
• Develops comprehensive assessment strategies for experiential learning initiatives.
• Develops mid-term range goals and objectives to achieve excellence in experiential learning initiatives.
• Develops and implements standards for attainment of program goals and objectives.
• Maintains frequent interaction with university departments, special groups and external agencies in administering the program.
• Recommends new policies and procedures for improvement of program activities.
• Coordinates staff training and development.
• Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
• Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedures written material and documentation.
• Conducts marketing assessment for assigned area.
• Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
• Oversees financial management of all program activities.
• Determines work priorities.
• Works on special projects as assigned.
• Attends professional development seminars.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received General direction from the assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given Supervises assigned staff.
Required Education Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University.
Preferred Education Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited University.
Licenses/Certifications None.
Required Experience
  • Five (5) years of experience performing closely related duties, including program planning/coordination or related experience in the appropriate field of the program, or
  • Three (3) years of the required experience with a Master’s degree, or
  • Seven (7) years of the required experience with an Associate Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or
  • Nine (9) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience Experience in contract negotiations.
Equipment Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment.
Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Other Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Independent decision making and problem solving ability.
