May provide statistical analyses of quality improvement data.OverviewThe (GPM) is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the (SJG) mission of training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research.ResponsibilitiesGPM is seeking a Health Policy and Systems Research Program Manager to lead, deliver, and monitor global health policy and systems research projects and initiatives within and for the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St. Jude Global (SJG). This key role involves managing a portfolio of activities to strengthen evidence-informed national health policies and systems to improve outcomes for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases, via health systems and policy science collaborations with government Ministries, hospital leadership, clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates. Health policy and systems research skills alongside complex program management expertise would be critical, as this individual would be responsible for coordinating multi-faceted efforts deployed across all 6 World Health Organization (WHO) regions, including our St. Jude Country Collaboration for Childhood Cancer Control (C5) tool used to guide teams in national systems strengthening and priority setting, and our Policies tool suite which includes a dynamic global visualization platform based on 5000+ screened national health policies and multi-lingual health policy analysis tools for researchers and Ministry collaborators. This team member will also work to support St. Jude’s activities as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Childhood Cancer. The ideal candidate would be eager to facilitate work streams to promote collaborative health policy and systems research, and also directly contribute to researching, documenting, co-designing, monitoring, and disseminating innovations in support of the St. Jude Global strategic vision.The GPM Health Systems Unit Program Manager is responsible for:Coordinating and implementing multi-site health policy and systems research projects with collaborators, including health systems needs assessments and policy analysesCollaborating with teams in analyses of health systems and policies (particularly those pertinent to national cancer control planning), and facilitating strategic implementation needs across operational levelsDeveloping, implementing and aligning standardized tools, frameworks, and metrics to ensure execution of project deliverables and optimize impactSupporting and maintaining data syntheses and dashboards to track and communicate progress and deliverablesDeveloping and designing compelling reports, research/policy briefs and messaging specifically tailored for needs in partnership with diverse collaboratorsOrganizing, designing, and facilitating workshops (national, regional, global; virtual or in-person), including liaising with stakeholders to achieve shared objectivesPlanning, coordination and documentation of site visits and progress meetingsFacilitating communication and implementation of initiatives with global collaborators including United Nations agencies and governmental stakeholdersDeveloping strong working relationships with partners both at St. Jude and key global collaborator sitesWorking with team members across sites to ensure timely accomplishment of deliverablesFacilitating discussions in live meetings, presentations, and email/written communicationsMaintaining program budgets and tracking spendingAligning SJCRH mission, St. Jude Global Strategic Plan and global collaborative initiativesSkills and AbilitiesTechnical skills in global health systems and policy (including researching/monitoring)Familiarity with general medical/health services, health systems and policy terminologyFamiliarity with applying quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodsFamiliarity with project management frameworks in health related and resource-limited (low- and middle-income country) settings strongly preferredExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailsStrong communication and analytic skillsDemonstrated problem solving skillsStrategic planning and prioritization abilitiesAble to analyze, synthesize and adapt to new information quicklyOpenness and discernment to integrate feedback from team and other stakeholdersFamiliarity with quality improvement and implementation science methodologies a plusLanguage skills in one of the other 5 WHO official languages in addition to English an asset (Arabic Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish)Experience with data visualization (e.g., using PowerBI) an assetFlexibility in schedule to accommodate meetings across different time zonesFlexibility to travel (estimated 20%) for on-site facilitation, as needed and as feasibleExperience leading multi-sector stakeholders in implementation efforts strongly preferredDemonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiativesCultural sensitivity is a mustAll candidates must submit a cover letter to be considered for the position.Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, epidemiology, or related field requiredMaster’s degree in public health, public policy, epidemiology, or related field preferredMinimum ExperienceFive (5) years of complex program management experience, preferably including time in health-related and resource-limited (low- and middle-income country) settingsDemonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple complex projects/work initiatives simultaneously, preferred.Demonstrated experience leading multi-sector stakeholders in project planning and implementation, preferred.Experience designing and managing programs with a focus on customer needs. Preferred.Experience in program budget tracking, reporting, and risk management is preferred.Proven experience engaging with senior leaders to facilitate decision-making is preferred.Experience providing guidance and mentorship within program management is preferred.Some experience driving continuous program improvement projects is preferred.Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
