In recent months there has been a substantial increase in the population in human mobility destined for the United States, crossing Mexico. At the border points of Ciudad Juárez, shelters are set up to accommodate and care for the migrant population, who are receiving families in extreme vulnerability with children and adolescents. UNICEF Mexico is responding to the human mobility emergency in Ciudad Juárez, seeking to meet the basic needs of children and adolescents and their families, who are awaiting their immigration procedures.

The Programme Associate (GS-6) will support the Chief of Field Office and various programme teams, in coordination with the Operations team in the Country Office, in all administrative, financial, logistical and supply issues required for programme implementation in the Chihuahua state.

How can you make a difference?

As the next Programme Associate you will manage all financial and administrative transactions of the Ciudad Jurez ´Field Office (FO), particularly in the areas of administrative management, financial management and Logistics support (warehousing and inventory)  

Under the leadership of the Chief Field Office, your main responsibilities will be:  

  • Support to financial planning, management, and budget management 

  • Cash management 

  • Administrative support and property management 

  • Contract arrangement and control 

  • Supervision of warehousing and inventory management

To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will have the following mandatory requirements… 

  • Completion of secondary education (High School), preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in Finance, Business Administration, Management, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Contract/Commercial Law, International Development, Health, or related social science field.
  • At least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in at least two of the following areas: office management, finance, accounting, administration, or operations. For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of the required work experience
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Intermediate level of English. 

 It will be considered an advantage if you have (although you are not required to)…

  • Prior experience in programme support functions
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization
  • Fluency in English
