Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the Evaluation, Analysis and Monitoring (EAM) Unit, Management Support Section (MSS), Central Planning and Coordination Division (CPCD), Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM), New York. The EAM Unit monitors and evaluates key performance indicators for the department mandated by the General Assembly. The incumbent reports to the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Unit.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief and Deputy Chief of Evaluation, Analysis and Monitoring (EAM) Unit, the Programme Management Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Compiling, processing and manipulating data sets from a variety of sources in support of monitoring, evaluation and risk assessment for global DGACM projects and prepares relevant reports on the same
  • Processing the data sets for the tables, including graphic displays, checks consistency of data series, tests for comparability of data and checks validity of data against classifications and standards
  • Facilitating the EAM-related departmental IT projects and retrieving data from conference management source systems
  • Assisting with the data retrieval and maintenance from relevant databases, including gDoc, eAPG, gMeets
  • Maintaining all internal reports, and developing statistical reports based on the user- requirements
  • Preparing charts, graphs and other outputs for reporting and presentation of various data. Converts data sets into a variety of forms (including ratios, estimates and projections)
  • Responding to internal/external requests/queries
  • Defining processes to achieve specific outputs, modifies control processes according to specifications for data analysis, tests and revises programmes under the supervision of information technology specialists and produces the required outputs
  • Performing other duties as assigned, such as assisting in meetings or documents management Administrative Duties:
  • Assists in the overall administration of the unit.
  • Compiles input (reports) from various units in the department
  • Prepares draft report, verifies consistency of presentation
  • Monitors the timely submission of reports and mandatory revisions to project documents
  • Assist in writing communication and minutes of meetings

Education

  • High School or equivalent diploma is required.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of five years of experience in programme analysis, statistics, evaluation or reporting, or related areas such as meetings or documents management is required.

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
