The internship is UNPAID, full-time (35 hours per week) for three to six months. The intern will work in a hybrid arrangement in New York, United States, or remotely. The duration and modality can be adjusted based on the request from the successful candidate and in line with operational needs. We are looking for one intern to start in September-October 2024 and one intern to start in January-February 2025. ​The Office for Coordination and Shared Services (OCSS) exists to coordinate and facilitate collaboration within the Peace and Security Pillar, and to foster an organizational culture tha​t is inclusive, innovative and effective. The intern will report to the Political Affairs Officer. The intern will support the organizational culture that ensures inclusion, innovation and effectiveness through the “Building Our Pillar” programme ​ ​​The intern will support the team in: ​Implementing activities in accordance with the Building Our Pillar action plan on staff engagement, including the MyCareer initiative, the Gender Parity Action Plan and the Disability Inclusion Action Plan ​Collecting, analyzing and visualizing quantitative and qualitative information ​Updating online information related to staff engagement activities ​Assisting with the preparation of weekly newsletters and other communications ​Supporting change management initiatives ​Coordinating and assisting with specific events ​Other ad hoc duties as required.Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). We seek candidates with any of the following background: communications, management, data, human resources or related subjects. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
