Kambo delivers three in-house programs: Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program.delivers multilingual education, support, and coaching services to ensure underrepresented communities have access to energy, climate, and home retrofit programs.supports Indigenous Nations to build, renovate, and improve community housing.provides fully subsidized energy retrofits to improve affordability for households living in energy poverty.About the OpportunityAs the Project Accountant, you are detail-oriented managing budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting for projects. This role involves monitoring project profitability, forecasting costs, ensuring accurate invoicing, revenue recognition and time tracking. You will support the executive and project teams with financial insights.To be successful in this role, the Project Accountant will have a natural ability to engage with stakeholders to develop, execute and refine project financial requirements. You have excellent communication skills, understand the connection between project results and corporate results, and are extremely organized.Core AccountabilitiesProject Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage all financial aspects of projects, including budgeting and cost accounting.
  • Develop project cost budgets and profitability metrics for proposed projects.
  • Monitor and report project cost performance through budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Forecast estimates to complete and estimated final costs on active projects and report to Project Managers and Divisional Managers.
  • Report to Project Managers and Divisional Managers on changes to forecast project profitability.
  • Monitor and report on project gross margins.
  • Regularly publish and review project cost and profitability with internal stakeholders.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for internal stakeholders.

Revenue Recognition

  • Track and report on revenue recognition across all projects
  • Develop and maintain revenue recognition systems based on multiple project types and business models
  • Forecast revenue based on sales projections and existing project revenue

Cost Tracking & Allocation

  • Assist Project Managers and Divisional Managers with the timely accounting of project costs and cost reporting.
  • Track subcontractor and other project costs.
  • Calculate and allocate labour billbacks to projects.

Billing & Time Tracking

  • Monitor and report billable hours tracking and thresholds.
  • Ensure accurate and detailed time tracking processes are followed.
  • Ensure contractual requirements for billing are met.

Forecasting & Sales Pipeline Monitoring

  • Monitor the sales pipeline for future projects and report on changes in the sales pipeline forecast.

Key Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Must be a clear oral and written communicator with the ability to work with stakeholders across divisions, functions and seniority levels.
  • Experience in various financial software with excellent follow up, time management, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with energy, sustainability, and conservation or a willingness to learn is a plus.
  • Experience in project based accounting and revenue recognition
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online is a plus
  • Experience with Professional Services Software a plus
