Outline of the job

The Project Accountant will support the work and operations of Zinc in accounting, financial management, internal controls, and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, Zinc’s finance policies, and US Government financial regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements. They will assist with the ethical and transparent financial management of Zinc’s projects portfolio.

The Project Accountant will be based in London and be expected to be in our office at least 2 days per week. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

What you’ll be doing

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Track project expenses and request approval for payment with required documentation

· Conduct a detailed review all monthly project expenses.

· Support cash requirements, disbursement, bank reconciliations, and projections.

· Support local, regional, and home office London/ US accounting reports.

· Prepare monthly project invoices.

· Assist with resolving invoice issues.

· Liaise with project team staff to offer guidance and support.

· Organise and maintain comprehensive financial files and ensure that all financial record retention is compliant with legal and donor agency requirements.

· Assist with project audits.

Requirements

What we need from you:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting.

· 3-5 years of accounting experience.

· Experience supporting USAID funded projects in a financial capacity.

· Demonstrated Experience and Knowledge of US Government rules and regulation 2 CFR 200

· Experience working with financial application software and related reporting tools.

· Candidates must have work authorisation for country location.

· Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

· Strong Microsoft skills including advance Excel.

· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
