Do you have a strong background in design? Are you interested in working in a multi-disciplinary role for a dynamic industry leader?The University of Leeds, in partnership with MyGroup Hull Ltd, is seeking an ambitious and motivated postgraduate to join a pioneering project aimed at transforming textile waste management in the PPE sector through innovative fibre-to-fibre (F2F) recycling techniques. This four-month Accelerated Knowledge Transfer (AKT) project will focus on the recycling of high-visibility (hi-vis) garments, addressing the environmental challenges posed by their disposal.As Project Coordinator for Circular Textiles you will be responsible for leading key elements of this project, including analysing waste streams, developing efficient sorting and deconstruction processes, and evaluating the potential of recycled fibres for reuse. You will work closely with academic supervisors at the University of Leeds, benefiting from their expertise and the advanced facilities at the Leeds Institute of Textiles and Colour (LITAC), while also being primarily based at MyGroup Hull Ltd’s recycling facility in East Yorkshire where you will be integrated into the development team.This project offers a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience in cutting-edge textile recycling methods, engage with industry leaders, and contribute to sustainable innovations with real-world impact.Visa Entitlement:Please note that this post may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route but first-time applicants might need to qualify for salary concessions.
