  • Developing and preparing technical specifications and work scopes.
  • Assisting in the selection of design participants and in the awarding of design contracts.
  • Participating in leading engineering surveillance activities and assessing the design in progress, including the review of key design documents to verify that design requirements are met.
  • Ensuring adequate independent (third party) technical review of the design.
  • Participating in preparing submissions of key technical and safety-related documents to the Delegate Design Authority for the Chief Nuclear Engineer for review.
  • Facilitating the transfer of specialized design knowledge to CNL.
  • Assessing equipment options and making recommendations.
  • Assisting the Project Lean and Project Control Representative in developing project work packages, including deliverables, budgets and schedules.
  • Participating in the preparing technical documents, work scopes and engineering surveillance plans, performing surveillance of design, construction and commissioning activities of suppliers, including participants.
  • Identifying, assessing and initiating changes relative to the project scope statement in accordance with project change control.
  • Interfacing with design participants, operations engineers, technical staff and nuclear operators to provide technical support during all phases of the project, as required in order to meet project objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Bachelor (Honours) in Engineering or Science, with a preference for Mechanical or Electrical, from a university of recognized standing or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization
  • Experience
  • Work experience is preferred and considered an asset
  • Eligible for PEO Professional designation or able to start the process
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good interpersonal and oral and technical writing skills are required to interact with team members, internal suppliers, operations’ representatives, external contractors, project stakeholders, CNL management, and client organization
  • General computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications
  • Some understanding of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear processing facilities
  • Some knowledge of CNL’s practices, organization and Quality Assurance processes
  • Some understanding of radiation protection (RP) standards and CRL RP practices
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
