The Asset Protection & Optimisation team is a key department who supports all external parties completing work on, over or alongside Network Rail infrastructure. Facilitating smooth, efficient and successful project delivery whilst ensuring there is no impact on the safe and reliable operation of the railway now or in the future.Our outside party customers can range from local authorities who are repairing or upgrading our roads, private companies who are investing close to our railways, or utility companies that need to build over or under the railway to service their business needs.There are an increasing number of organisations who wish to invest directly in railway infrastructure, improving existing stations, constructing new stations and freight terminals and even re-opening old lines. Network Rail’s Open for Business philosophy means we offer opportunity for partners to develop and deliver schemes themselves, working alongside our asset protection team who provide engineering assurance until, in most cases, the completed scheme is transferred into Network Rail ownership. Learn more about Asset Protection & Optimisation here:Brief DescriptionTo support the Asset Protection and Optimisation (ASPRO) Eastern Region team with managing the day-to-day customer service activities. The ASPRO team support outside and third parties who wish to build or undertake maintenance activities, over, on, and under or adjacent to Network Rails operational network.The role will involve providing guidance on the requirements of the outside party and how Asset Protection will facilitate them with their scheme, project or development.We are looking for a person with a customer service background with experience of working in an engineering/project management setting and able to fulfil administrative tasks efficiently and independently.The team geographically covers the North & East, East Cost and East Midlands routes.To succeed in this role it is essential to have –

- Good understanding of Microsoft office programs e.g. Outlook, Excel and Power BI
About the role (External)Key Accountabilities –1. Work as part of a project team, to support excellent customer service to external stakeholders, which includes but is not limited to, local authorities, private developers, lineside neighbours, and statutory utility providers.2. Assist with providing relevant guidance and support to external stakeholders and be responsible for managing those interactions3. Assist with responding to emergency works and facilitate the right course of action, liaise with route control and asset management teams where required.4. Undertake initial risk assessments and promote good safety behaviours by identifying areas of potential risk and providing direction and advice to the external stakeholder5. Support the development and use of the customer relationship management system Asset Protection Customer Experience (ACE)6. Support the team with monitoring key performance indicators and feed into periodic progress reports7. Support data quality including management and interrogation of data to maximize efficiencies.8. Support the team in processing commercial property business technical clearance proposals for land use by external parties whilst safeguarding Network Rail’s infrastructure and operational requirements. Including monitoring of KPI’s and supporting the resolution of internal stakeholder concerns9. Support internal stakeholders with administrative tasks to assist good customer service (this includes but is not limited to Project Management, Construction Management and Engineering teams)10. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the team and contribute to it successful delivery.11.
