Astute’s Renewables team is partnering with a leading producer of biogas in the UK, to recruit a Project Manager for its Guildford site.

The strategically important Project Manager role comes with a salary of up to £80,000, a pension and a bonus.

Responsibilities and Duties

Reporting to the Head of Projects you will:

  • Develop and implement an effective inspection and auditing regime for the site, maintaining rigorous control over quality assurance processes.
  • Play a pivotal role within the Project Management team in demonstrating visible Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) leadership, fostering a culture of safety and compliance among both staff and contractors.
  • Contribute to the development of multi-disciplinary design documents, integrating expertise from various disciplines to optimize project outcomes.
  • Create comprehensive training and handover documentation packs, facilitating smooth transition and knowledge transfer upon project completion.
  • Maintain transparent communication with other departments and stakeholders throughout the construction phase, ensuring they are informed and consulted as necessary.
  • Identify, assess, manage, and escalate risks throughout the project lifecycle, proactively addressing potential issues to mitigate their impact.
  • Develop an effective commissioning plan encompassing operational elements such as training, feedstock management, maintenance, and procurement of consumables.
  • Work closely with designers, including subcontractors, to develop comprehensive engineering designs aligned with project scope and requirements.
  • Engage with key members throughout the initial phases to secure design approval from stakeholders, facilitating smooth progression into the construction phase.
  • Define a clear list of design deliverables, establish plans, and allocate budgets for their timely delivery.
  • Forecast, monitor and control project budgets accounting for any variances and providing regular updates to the project board committee.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Civil, Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Experience setting up and managing Engineering Construction contracts.
  • Competent in MS Office programmes such as MS Project/Primavera
  • Confident using AutoCAD.
  • Experience as a Project Manager in industries such as manufacturing, process engineering, utilities or nuclear utilities. Ideally the development of AD plants.
