The Bank of Canada acts as the fiscal agent for the Government of Canada, settles the daily transactions of major Canadian banks and their customers, manages its own accounts, and holds Canadian dollar securities for other central banks. The Bank also provides banking services to the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Crown corporation that insures eligible Canadian bank deposits.
These operations go on quietly and efficiently behind the scenes, every day—typically around 550 transactions a day, valued at about $40 billion.
About the position
Reporting to the Assistant Director, End User Technologies, you lead multiple scrum teams in delivering renewed and secure IT solutions to clients on time and within budget. You manage the overall scope, cost, schedule and contractual deliverables, which includes applying project management methodologies for planning, tracking, change control and risk management. Projects typically involve multiple systems and stakeholders at various levels across several departments, and you coordinate the input, support and communication with all functional areas that affect all requirements related to project scope, business value, risk and resources.
You will participate in the evaluation and delivery of new end user technologies at the Bank, with a key focus on enhancing Bank staff’s user experience, as well as assess feasibility and readiness for new technology deployments. You will also ensure that technologies continue to meet business needs, while maintaining an appropriate balance between functionality and security.
What you will do
- manage multiple cloud-based Microsoft platform projects (Autopilot, MS Hello, Window 11, Intune, etc.), while working closely with the delivery and operational teams
- Lead projects related to upgrade of event/meeting rooms
- lead scrum teams, manage backlog items, develop project plans, prioritize and delegate work to achieve project objectives
- prioritize work to achieve project objectives by assigning resources and ensuring the collaboration of other teams
- provide senior advice and guidance to others on matters relating to Agile and project management practices and methodologies
- collaborate proactively with other project or program managers to manage interdependencies and optimize flow for project team
- report project progress regularly to senior management and sponsors
- work with resource managers to identify appropriate resources, manage their integration into the teams and provide performance feedback
- manage project activities and deliverables with a focus on quality, delivering within time and budget targets while managing project risks
- develop and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and business partners to ensure understanding of client needs and support effective resolution of client inquiries and concerns
- create a healthy work climate for project teams by providing clear direction, effective delegation of work and input to the project authority to support the professional development of team members
What you will need to succeed
As an experienced Project Manager, you are resourceful and well-organized, an effective communicator, team player, innovative problem solver, self-starter and change contributor. You must be eligible for reliability status. In addition, you have
- advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in project life-cycle management and Agile delivery
- solid understanding of IT service delivery and support processes
- strategic and tactical thinking
Assets
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification
- knowledge of numerous leading vendor platforms such as Microsoft M365 Cloud solutions, AzureAD/O365, Cisco telephony services
Education and experience
- bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or business administration
- a minimum of seven years of project management experience in a large financial services or technology environment
or
- an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
What you need to know
- Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
- Priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents
- Security level required: Be eligible to obtain Secret

- Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $101,325 to $126,660 (job grade 18)
- Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay. The first tier of performance pay is for successfully meeting expectation, at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers performance pay for those who exceed expectations (15% of your base salary). Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
