An opportunity has arisen in the Working Age Adults, West Northumberland Community Treatment Team for an EMDR Therapist to join the team for a 12-month fixed term, part-time contract.The post is based at the Fairnington Centre in Hexham, which is a scenic market town in Tynedale. The team seeks to provide high quality, trauma informed, compassionate care that promotes recovery and wellbeing, and EMDR is a highly valued intervention in the team.Main duties of the jobYou will be a valuable member of the multi-disciplinary team, working as an EMDR therapist offering assessment and treatment. As such this role offers the exciting opportunity to focus on and specialise in the provision of EMDR.About usThe West Northumberland Community Treatment Team is a friendly, supportive multi-disciplinary team based in Hexham, comprising community psychiatric nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, psychological professionals, pharmacists, nurse prescribers, along with other secondary care mental health clinicians.   • An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society; Or an Honours degree level qualification in another mental health field, subject to specific suitability check; And able to meet Core Profession equivalence KSA requirements. Or RMN, OT, Arts Psychotherapy or Social Worker degree level qualification; And Accredited post-graduate qualifications in a minimum of one psychological therapy modality appropriate to the designated pathway, as detailed in the table below, together with ongoing registration / accredited membership of the appropriate professional body.
  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society and the HCPC.

Knowledge and ExperienceEssential

  • Specialist model specific psychological assessment, formulation and intervention skills.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity, including severe and enduring mental health problems, psychosis and/or personality disorder, drawing on evidence-based models. This includes maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the possibility of physical abuse.

  • Knowledge of psychological theory and practice relevant to clinical settings.
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
