This position will lead the Community Health Unit throughout St. Louis County performing highly responsible work in the administration of public health programs and the supervision of public health staff. Some travel may be required within St. Louis County on a weekly basis. The incumbent of this position could be based out of Duluth, Virginia, Hibbing or Ely based on location preference.The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2025. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $35.91 – $57.14 per hourThese positions are part of the Merit System Supervisory Unit Employees Collective Bargaining Agreement represented by the Arrowhead Public Service Union.
An employee in this class is responsible for the administration of public health programs and supervising assigned staff. Duties include oversight of the planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs per statute, regulation, and research. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.
These work environment factors are general in nature and may vary depending on the specific position being filled. CONSTANT : Inside. FREQUENT : Near and Midrange Vision; Hearing close-proximity (0-5 feet); Finger; Sit; Talk/Speak; Works alone; Works with others; Works around others. OCCASIONAL : Customer/Public contact; Extended day; Drive. RARE : Lift-Push/Pull while stationary up to 10 pounds and Carry-push/pull while moving about up to 10 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in administration, public health, nursing, community health, environmental health or a closely related field AND four (4) years of full-time paid verifiable professional public health experience; OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in administration, public health, nursing, community health, environmental health, or a closely related field AND one (1) year of full-time paid verifiable public health experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
