The Governors are seeking to appoint two reliable, hardworking and enthusiastic Pupil Regulation and Engagement Support Assistants to join our successful and friendly school. The successful candidates will need to be self-motivated, have good organisational and inter personal skills, and a thorough understanding of Wakefield’s Safeguarding Procedures and of trauma-informed approaches to behaviour. They will need experience of having worked with pupils with additional needs, particularly those with complex autism and Severe Learning Difficulties, within a school setting.Following an outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2023 the school has further developed all aspects of provision for its pupils. The school caters for pupils from across the Wakefield District who have severe and profound learning disabilities, many of whom have complex autism. The school operates on two sites, Stanley and Castleford. The successful candidates must be willing and able to work on either or both sites as required.Key aspects of the role are to:-

  • Provide focussed support for pupils with additional regulation, engagement and behavioural needs
  • Attend in-house and off-site training (e.g. in Team Teach, training around school’s behaviour policy etc.) to enhance professional skills and knowledge base
  • Act as the school’s in-house Team Teach trainer, providing training in Team Teach Level 1 or Level 2 (as required) to new staff and refresher training to existing staff
  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Leader with overall responsibility for behaviour
  • Assist the SMT and individual class teachers with the development and implementation of individual pupil Regulation Support Plans and Behaviour Support Plans.
