Job Description:OverviewWe are recruiting for a Purchase Ledger Supervisor to join us at our Upminster site, with hybrid working. You will be working in a very high demanding fast paced environment, and operate as a key part of the accounting team.
ResponsibilitiesYou will be working within a team of 7 Purchase Ledger Clerks reporting directly to the Purchase Ledger Manager. Your key stakeholders will be your Line Manager, your team members, Finance Director, Management Accountants and Suppliers.

  • As a Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the Purchase Ledger Clerks and dealing with escalations. You also review and approve payments runs and ad-hoc payments prior to group level, ensuring all payments are properly authorised and queried items are not paid until resolved. Also assisting with Month End reviews and reporting.
  • A Senior Clerk would have full ownership of your allocated suppliers, from managing them start to finish and making all decisions required. You will have great attention to detail as you’ll be responsible for pushing the workload through the system, therefore, it is critical we pay the correct suppliers the accurate amount.

  • Purchase Ledger experience gained within a fast-paced environment
  • Supervisors will require demonstrable experience supervising a team.
  • Senior Purchase Ledger Clerks will require experience working autonomously in a purchase ledger role.
  • Exceptional Excel skills from VLOOKUPS, Formulas and pivot tables, not only will you be able to use these skills but will be able to create and formulate as required to enable you to work at a fast pace.
  • Resilient, and a tenacious confident communicator who is able to build long lasting relationships with your suppliers.
  • Ability to challenge and rectify any issues your supplier may have; therefore, your written and verbal skills will be second to none.
  • Excellent communicator at all levels written and verbal.
  • Methodical and have great attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of CIS Government Scheme beneficial
  • Knowledge of Infor or Sun Accounts beneficial
