Apply today to join our team!As a Quality Assurance Lead, Eye Bank of British Columbia and Tissue Bank of British Columbia with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
- Report to the Manager.
- Provide specialized skills in the support of achieving Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH’s) organizational and quality improvement strategic direction.
- Provide expertise and administer the Eye Bank of British Columbia (EBBC) and Tissue Bank Quality Assurance System.
- Work in partnership with program operational and medical leadership, the Eye Bank and Tissue Bank Chief Technologist, and be responsible for developing and maintaining processes, policies and standard operating procedures relating to eye and tissue bank quality and safety.
- Develop and implement processes to ensure quality management and compliance with relevant regulatory standards including CSA and Health Canada. This includes, but is not limited to, processes for document control, validation, auditing, corrective/preventative actions, and instrument calibration/preventive maintenance.
- Ensure the highest possible standards to ensure the quality and safety.
- Identify improvements required to achieve the optimal client experience at VCH.
- Work in close partnership with Quality and Patient Safety to maintain the QA Audit Program standards at all times through engaging onsite operations teams to meet or exceed established standards, and ensure that initiatives are aligned with organizational goals, objectives and improvement priorities.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
- Five (5) years’ recent, related quality assurance leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Healthcare experience preferred.
- Valid BC Driver’s license, as local area travel requires the use of a vehicle.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of and experience with quality improvement principles and practices and methodologies, measurement techniques, and tools.
- Demonstrated excellent facilitation and training skills, and knowledge of adult education principles and practices.
- Strong desire and ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision, including excellent follow – through skills
- Experience in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement; process drive and ability to move forward with improvements.
- Experience working in a fast paced environment, and the ability to provide guidelines and execution of standards.
- Strong written, presentations and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Windows application, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
