Job description

- Carrying out inspections in five key areas and other areas as client needs dictate:
- Receiving inspection of incoming goods/materials to purchase order requirements.
- Calibrating Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE).
- Inspecting and measuring manufactured/fabricated materials, parts, and assemblies.
- Conducting field inspections/examinations (e.g., non-destructive examination and tests of items, materials, components, assemblies, and systems, using methods like leak, and pressure tests, etc.).
- Overseeing general field QC work: witnessing, verification, and surveillance.
- Completing and documenting QC inspections within well-defined procedures:
- Executing QC inspection work assignment instructions, following standard procedures, techniques, and equipment, and adhering to established work sequences; completing safety assessments and work permits where required.
- Setting up QC inspection work areas, including equipment for measurements, examinations, tests, and results analysis.
- Conducting experiments and tests, recording, organizing, and analyzing observations, and suggesting conclusions. Recognizing and investigating reasons for obvious deviations in results obtained.
- Developing inspection skills, expertise, and experience:
- Engaging in regular awareness, training, and development to enhance current and developing skills and experience in support of business needs.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position, or Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and pertinent technological experience.
- Experience
- Two to three years of pertinent technological experience as a technical graduate, or five to eight years of pertinent and progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Basic working knowledge and application of inspection-related codes, standards and specifications (i.e. ASTM, ASME, Welding, etc.).
- Capable of reading and interpreting drawings/blueprints, engineering specifications, test and calibration reports and applying acceptance criteria to inspection methods, tools, and equipment.
- Skills in using, caring and properly maintaining inspection tools and techniques.
- Organizational skills to take direction/instruction and work with experienced staff to complete tasks.
- Detail-oriented and has the ability to meet deadlines.
- Highly motivated, responsible, and accountable for working under direct supervision.
- Punctuality, dependability and safety-minded.
- Ability to adapt to multiple changing work tasks.
- Valid class G driver’s license.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location:CNL’s Chalk River laboratory is nestled in the Ottawa Valley and affords our employees an environmentally pristine area with extensive forests, hills, and numerous small lakes.
