This role has a starting salary of £38,746 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring 4 new Quality Development Advisors to join our fantastic Early Years Educational Effectiveness team, based in Fairmount House, Leatherhead. The role involves hybrid working, supporting early years providers across the county, working remotely (sometimes from home) and combining this with working from any of the Council’s offices.

About the Team

The Early Years Educational Effectiveness provides support and challenge to a range of early years providers including full daycare, pre-schools, maintained nurseries, childminders and out of school provision to promote quality improvements and maintain high quality provision. We provide advice and guidance on quality of provision and the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage as well as supporting setting to meet the requirements set out by Ofsted and other relevant legislation.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, resilient and innovative Quality Development Advisor to join our highly motivated and effective team. You will be instrumental in the design and delivery of the support that providers are offered to develop new and existing provision and will work closely with a range of professionals across the early years services in Surrey.

You will provide practical support, guidance and consultancy advice to early years providers to improve outcomes for children and enhance their offer to children and families. You will also monitor the effectiveness of training programs, collect feedback from participants and use data to continuously improve training content and delivery, and prepare regular reports to management and stakeholders.

Each Quality Development Advisor will have a lead area and work will focus on the development and delivery of services linked to the key area. The key lead areas are:

  • Childminders
  • Quality Improvement
  • School based early years provision
  • Children aged 2 and under

Initially the roles will be specific to a quadrant of Surrey, over time with the development of the lead roles they will become countywide and will require travel across the whole of Surrey.

Shortlisting Criteria

  • As a graduate describe how you have developed your career and what is your experience of working with children across the whole 0-5 age range.
  • Describe your experience of implementing a programme/project. Please state the outcome and anything you would do differently in the future.
  • Please give examples of when you have monitored the effectiveness of training or a project and how you used data to influence future developments.
  • Tell us about a time you have provided mentoring support focusing on one of the 4 lead areas and tell us what skills, knowledge and experience you would bring to one of these priorities:
  • Childminding
  • Early Years in schools
  • Quality Improvement processes
  • 2 year olds and under
