The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with MMI and be responsible for the following:
Specific Tasks:Basic Services. The contractor shall provide a sufficient work force possessing the skills, knowledge, and training to satisfactorily perform the services required by this contract and able to perform multiple Jewish funerals simultaneously. Personnel performing work under this work statement will not be considered employees of the Government. Failure to meet the below experience and qualifications at the required levels could constitute default.
The contractor or designated subcontractor shall be an ordained Jewish Rabbi who possesses the current and valid faculties of his Jewish agency/synagogue and endorsed by an authorized Jewish Endorsement agency for Military Services; fully qualified and experienced in providing pastoral care to parishioners, family members, and staff. The contract provider must meet all of the credential and educational requirements of the Jewish Faith and remain current as required by the Jewish Endorsing Agency for the duration of the contract.
The contractor or designated subcontractor shall have experience in providing pastoral care for Jewish parishioners, Soldiers, Family members and staff members at a military cemetery like Arlington National Cemetery; and have knowledge, skills, and ability in the following areas: pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, sermon preparation and delivery, Jewish law, theology, customs, liturgy, ministrations, marriage and family ministry, and the basic ecclesiastical annulment process. Contractor or designated subcontractor shall have experience and be able to conduct Full Honors funeral services, chapel funeral services, memorial services, and graveside services in accordance with the Jewish tradition and military protocol. They may be required to walk with full honors personnel from the chapel to the graveside and be present and participate at the designated place for transfers.The contractor or designated subcontractor shall be an ordained Jewish Rabbi fully endorsed by his ecclesiastical supervisors for Military Service, to perform services as required by this contract. The Government reserves the right to give final approval for all priests proposed to serve under this contract, based on qualifications as set forth in this contract and appropriate advice and recommendation from the responsible Jewish Chaplain.The Contractor or designated subcontractor shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough effectively to communicate with parishioners and chapel staff; and well enough to preach fluently in English.5.1.5 The Contractor or designated subcontractor is required to maintain Jewish Rabbinical faculties and endorsement at all times during performance of this contract. Should this endorsement be lost or withdrawn, this rabbi will cease function at the discretion of the responsible Army Chaplain in consultation with the Jewish Endorser for Military Services.
The Contractor or designated subcontractor is responsible for personal and professional training as a current Jewish Rabbi. He is further required to maintain all relevant training and certification as detailed by the Jewish Endorser for the Military Services. Documentation of such training shall be provided to the COR and to the Jewish Endorser for the Military Services.
The Contractor or designated subcontractor shall use Arlington Welcome at the beginning of each Service conducted at Arlington National Cemetery. The following is an example: Welcome to Arlington National Cemetery; these hallowed grounds are a lasting memorial for over 400,000 men and women who faithfully served our nation. Each headstone is a brick in the foundation of the freedom of our great country. I encourage you to remember this: no place in Arlington National Cemetery can be purchased; each is earned through honorable service.The Contractor or designated subcontractor shall use the following to introduce honors in services conducted for the veterans at Arlington National Cemetery:MILITARY HISTORY AND HONORS:On MONTH, DATE, YEAR, FIRST NAME answered our Nations call to serve, and served with honor, and distinction with the United States Army during the turbulent years of the NAME War. Today, we lay to rest a patriot, who honorably served our nation in the preservation of our heritage of freedom. For honorable service in the United States Army, including a combat deployment during the NAME war, FIRST NAME received military medals and decorations including SIGNIFICANT AWARDS. For our brother in arms, RANK FULL FIRST LAST NAME, our nation bestows military honors. In life, he honored the flag; now, the flag will honor him.
