The RPN role includes medication administration, delivering patient care to individuals who are depressed, suicidal, psychotic and/or have severe personality and behavioural disorders.Your skills include the ability to make behavioral observations, mental status and physical assessments, monitoring patient’s response to pharmaceutical care interventions, documentation and ongoing communication with other team members and charge nurses.QualificationsHalton Healthcare endeavors to hire individuals who are competent in their chosen profession and who exemplify our mission, vision and values of accountability, respect and compassion which guide our individual behaviours and attitudes.
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
- CPI certification required
- 1 year minimum acute adult mental health experience required
- Must possess a strong understanding of psychopharmacology
- Must possess a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addiction issues and risk assessments
- Must possess good assessment and crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem solve.
- Good team player
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record
- Must be physically able to do the job, which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort
The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation.
