The Combined Packaging Regime is looking for enthusiastic and proactive individuals to deliver regulatory and environmental outcomes.The role involves working on the Extended Producer Responsibility Regulations for Packaging Producers.As a regulatory officer, you will analyse large data sets that are required to be submitted under these regulations by Packaging Producers and Compliance Schemes, querying and rectifying anomalies. This is to ensure the data is accurate and Producers are complying with the regulations, therefore excellent data and information management skills are essential.
In addition, you will:

  • Co-ordinate and deliver processes, providing support, coaching and guidance to colleagues ensuring compliance with statutory and internal deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external customers and answer technical queries
  • Collate, analyse and use complex data to help make evidence-based decisions on regulation compliance.
  • Conduct scheme audits

We protect and improve the environment by regulating industry, ensuring compliance and eliminating illegal activities.We sit within Waste Regime Operational Services who regulate key areas including Packaging, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries and International Waste Shipments.Experience/skills requiredWe need individuals able to demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to analyse large complex data sets to ensure the accuracy of data submitted to us.
  • Ability to coordinate the collection, assessment, reporting and saving of complex data in line with internal guidance.
  • Ability to work with a variety of colleagues to solve complex technical issues and deliver outcomes.
  • A great communicator with interpersonal skills, presenting facts verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deliver training, coach, provide feedback and provide technical direction.
  • Organisation and planning skills to deliver multiple work activities with varying deadlines.
  • Experience in supporting and influencing others to deliver based on priority.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience of working with customers and colleagues to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working within Waste Regulation is desirable.
  • Experience of working with Microsoft packages is essential (Word, Excel and Teams).

Contact and additional informationOur team is based in Sheffield and currently works flexibly between the office/home. Regular travel to the Sheffield office is required. Occasional travel to other national locations is also required.
