Our reward and benefits, and ways of working enable those who join us to have enriching careers, matched by an excellent work-life balance.About the RoleWe are looking for an enthusiastic researcher to join us as a Fixed Term Research Officer/Assistant in advanced digital modelling for the realisation of Industry 4.0 capabilities within the steel industry. The postholder will join the interdisciplinary research group in Industrial AI and Data Modelling at Swansea University in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, delivering responsible and inclusive digital innovations in the steel sector. The postholder will have a background in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, modelling computing systems, data modelling, knowledge engineering, ontologies and material informatics. Experience of digital modelling in the steel/materials industry would be an advantage.The postholder will be part of an established research centre, the EPSRC supported Made Smarter Innovation –Materials Made Smarter Research Centre (MMSC), delivered on behalf of UK Research and Innovation’s (UKRI) Industry Strategy Challenge Fund. The postholder will work alongside a wider and diverse team of researchers and academics across the centre’s five partner institutions (The Universities of Sheffield, UCL, Cambridge, Brunel, Nottingham and Swansea). They will engage with industrial stakeholders and link to the SUSTAIN’s UK Digital Steel Innovation, supporting both grand challenges in the SUSTAIN Hub of ‘Zero Waste, Carbon Neutral Iron- and Steelmaking’ and ‘Smart Steel Processing’.Equality, Diversity & InclusionThe University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity in all its practices and activities.
