Job description

The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a researcher to undertake work on novel formulations for improving therapeutic delivery as part of a collaborative project with Fondazione Toscana Life Sciences funded by the Wellcome Trust. The project seeks to establish the technical feasibility and economic potential of RNA-encoded antibodies as therapeutics. The researcher will work under the supervision of Dr Talia Shmool on the design, synthesize and test novel carriers to enhance the stability and delivery of RNA-encoded antibodies.What you would be doing:You will be able to perform experiments in a wet chemistry and biology lab and all accompanying analytical biology and chemistry techniques, produce clear written reports and presentations and have the ability to collect and manipulate data. Experience in animal cell culture is desirable.What we are looking for:

  • Practical experience within a research environment and / or publication in relevant and refereed journals.
  • Experience of dealing with industry.
  • Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including cell culture lab skills, transfection efficiency.
  • Experience in microfluidic nanoparticle manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of proteins and nucleic acids.
  • Knowledge of optimal formulation evaluation for in vitro and in vivo performance.
  • Knowledge of formulation design for stabilisation.
  • Knowledge of nanocarriers and microfluidics.
