Job description
Politics and International RelationsFollowing the recent funding from the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust, we are seeking to recruit a Research Associate to work on a project to research and develop theories of social change within the UK peace and security NGO community.RoleYou will work with Professor Nick Ritchie in the Department of Politics and International Relations to research processes of social change through reviews of existing scholarship, commissioning external papers, interviews with research participants, organisation of workshops and communication of findings.Skills and Experience needed
- PhD or working towards a PhD in Politics, Public Policy, Sociology, Security or related subject area or equivalent experience
- Strong background in one or more of the following areas to engage in high quality research:
- o Social movements and civil society
- o Public policy and policy change
- o Critical security studies and everyday security in the UK.
- Has research expertise in an area that will complement and enhance the project team’s research strategy and goals
- Excellent skills in qualitative research, analysis, and communication.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
