We have an exciting opportunity to work with the Gastrointestinal MRI Research Group at the University of Nottingham.
The successful applicant will join our multi-disciplinary research environment and learn a variety of MRI imaging and cutting-edge data analysis techniques, working across the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre (NDDC) and our Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre.
The successful candidate will help us to study the body’s response to different foods using various techniques such as breath tests and MRI imaging of the gut to elucidate the mechanisms behind food digestion, gastrointestinal function and people’s feelings such as fullness or bloating, now knowledge with a clear translational potential.
The successful candidate will be based at the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Centre (NDDC), within the academic unit of Translational Medical Sciences, School of Medicine, University of Nottingham. The NDDC is one of the largest gastrointestinal (GI) and liver academic units in the country and hosts the GI and Liver Disorders theme of National Institute for Health and Care Research funded Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre which has a number of fully research-dedicated MRI scanners at different fields.
Applicants should hold, or expect to hold, a PhD (area or the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience) in a relevant scientific subject. Completion/near completion of the PhD is necessary. This project requires a highly motivated and driven candidate.
This is a full-time (36.25 hours), fixed-term post available from 1st April 2024 for 12 months or until 30th June 2024, whichever is shorter. Arrangements for job share may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
