The Education Research Team at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Coordinator. Reporting to and working closely with the Bioethicist/Scientist, and other members of the Education Research Team, the successful candidate will assist in various research projects in bioethics and research in health professions and education. Duties include but are not limited to: provide coordination and assist in the development and implementation of research and evaluation initiatives including study design, data collection, analysis, confidential storage, report writing and preparation of manuscripts for research publications and abstracts for conferences. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive literature searches, assist in writing grant proposals, manage all aspects of data collection and processing, and coordinate all relevant protocols to ensure compliance for scientific activities including Research Ethics Board (REB) protocols. Responsibilities also include monitoring day-to-day aspects of research projects and assisting with knowledge translation (KT) activities such as building and delivering KT plans.The Research Coordinator will work with internal and external stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West.The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Bioethics or in a related health, social, behavioural field with at least two years of relevant research experience in areas such as bioethics or health policy. Demonstrated advanced knowledge and understanding of qualitative research methods and ethical issues related to mental health, substance use, and chronic pain is required. Advanced knowledge related to clinical and organizational ethics consultation is strongly preferred. Experience conducting semi-structured interviews, focus groups, as well as analyzing quantitative and qualitative data is required. Previous experience writing grant proposals, reports, and manuscripts for research publications is required. Solid knowledge of health equity principles is required. The successful candidate will possess strong PC software skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Internet search engines, and the ability to learn new programs quickly. High proficiency in qualitative data management software such as NVivo is required. Knowledge and experience with quantitative software such as R or SPSS is an asset. Demonstrating knowledge of KT strategies, methodologies and tools is required. Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral/written), and organizational skills are required, along with creative problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboration and teamwork. Candidates also require the ability to work effectively in a wide-range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
